THE KIDS VENICE BASKETBALL LEAGUE: NATURAL LEADERS CAMP
The Kids Venice Basketball League: Natural Leaders Building upon its tradition of unity and taking advantage of the family atmosphere of Venice Beach, Jon Nash and Nick Ansom founded The Kids Venice Basketball League (KVBL) in 2007, a non-profit collaborative committed to empowering the under-privileged children of Los Angeles with essential, healthy life and basketball skills. Children are bussed from various parts of inner-city Los Angeles to Venice Beach, where they participate in a year-round program that culminates in a 12-week “Natural Leaders Camp for Kids” held at the Venice courts before the VBL games begin.
GOAL:
KVBL and VBL is a global venture in partnership with ECO EDEN. Our partnership provides ongoing experiences that empower children to cultivate a healthy lifestyle, gain confidence in themselves and each other through teamwork, using a grassroots approach. We will build basketball courts to serve as bridges, reminding and inspiring young Natural Leaders to become examples of how to live a sustainable, healthy, conscious lifestyle - and have fun in the process. Children return home with the drive to share their knowledge with family and friends, leading by example and helping to stimulate new ways for all generations to think about their responsibility for our planet.

Contributions to the KVBL provide each youth participant with organic meals by gourmet chefs, a team uniform, shoes, a sustainable water bottle, a fruit-and-veggie pack to take home at the end of the day, and a health and fitness workbook. Each participant will plant the seedling of a tree, symbolic of the sustainable growth of his or her dreams and aspirations. KVBL kids will pledge to make thoughtful choices for the benefit of themselves and the Earth they share, celebrating the wonder and diversity of all life.
